Protected Classes

The University of Northern Iowa Policy 13.02(14)(A) states that the University, and/or any member of the campus community, may not discriminate against any employee, applicant for employment, student or applicant on the basis of a protected class.

Protected classes include (but are not limited to): age, color, creed, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, national origin, political affiliation, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran or military status, or any other protected class under applicable local, state, or federal law.
