The Art of C.H.A.N.G.E.

The Art of C.H.A.N.G.E. is an annual exhibition that takes place during the fall semester and was conceptualized in 2020 by former student Karrah Bates.

The goal of this exhibition is to give survivors and supporters a space to share their creative work concerning these stigmas, and to continue awareness and prevention efforts at UNI.

The exhibit will display artwork created by UNI students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Submission Guidelines

Pieces can be submitted with the artist name attached, or anonymously. Submission pieces can include, and are not limited to: poetry, paintings, photography, digital art, music, choreography, sculptures, etc. Any physical copies of artwork must be submitted online in a photo or video or dropped off at the Office of Compliance and Equity Management at Gilchrist 117.

Content of art may include, but is not limited to, the following:

Why the topic of sexual assault is important to you
How stigmas of sexual assault have affected your life
The intersection of your experience on campus concerning sexual assault, with your membership in a protected class (e.g. race, sexual orientation, gender, etc.) Please view UNI's Policy 13.02 to see the full definition of protected class.

Note: while we do not wish to limit artistic expression, as a part of UNI campus, we are unable to re-post any explicit material such as profanity, nudity, or names of individuals other than the artist. If the artist feels the inclusion of these materials is vital to the piece, it can still be included in the exhibit, but with the explicit material appropriately censored. If the material is not censored by the artist upon submission, the OCEM will censor as we see fit.
